Students are eligible to be considered for the Briggs-Arthur Scholarship if they meet all of the following criteria

• Applicant must have at least one parent of Black/African American or Black Caribbean heritage.
• Be a current high school senior at Kingstree Senior High School or Hemingway High School (Williamsburg County, South Carolina) at the time of the application.
• Is a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States.
• Have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 on an un-weighted 4.0 scale.
• Will enroll for the first time at a U.S. located, accredited college or university.
• Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities.
• Students must submit the application along with a 2-page essay. Essay topic is listed in the application.
